QUALITY SHOW TYPE RACING HOMERS BRED FOR PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT AND EXHIBITION

Picture
Hello folks welcome to my little web site ! I have showed, raced and raised pigeons for 45 years +. My grandfather Harry Anderson got me interested in birds at the age of 5, and got hooked from then on. A GREAT mentor for me was a local breeder and friend Ellsworth Kistler, he taught me so much about showing and breeding. He was a 2 breed MASTER BREEDER by the NPA. We went to all the shows together, up to 12 a year across the country. In the mid 70's I started with Show Type Racing Homers after seeing them at the local all breeds shows and then searching them out at the Louisville young bird show. At that show in Louisville I saw Jim Isselhardts family of birds, that did it for me.....I had to have them! By far....Jim was the top man in the breed. Like Ellsworth said " if you want to get them.... Go to the BEST" so I did. I bought 2 pair from Jim......He treated me very well and most of all taught me so much for years to come. Over the years we became good friends and I had bought some 26-30 birds from Jim. Jim is no longer in the sport.......This breed owes so much to Jim and his impact to the breed. I still would love to see this true master come back into the sport. In 1993 I kept a few show birds but went into racing.....it was fun and I won at it. I did it for about 5 years, then spent all my time with my son and his ice hockey. That took up all the weekends and 2 nights a week for almost 12 years. In 2008 I still had some STRH
as pets then for some reason the bug hit me to get more involved in the showing again. Jim no longer in the sport I turned to a long time showmen from years back......Rod Hand. Let me say.....Rod was as always a first class man. He gave me a hen, loaned me another and urged me to get moving to show in the breed again.  Thank you so much Rod! It Has be pleasing to breed and show the birds, they have done well for me as well as for others I have passed them onto.

Rod along with his kind wife Jean run the North eastern states show, what a fine job they do! A first class show and great club to join as well. You can contact Rod @   RokRunRod@aol.com  for joining info and club info.

Take care all and best to you all in 2012 !.........Harry
